Three suspects caught in the murder of Rehoboth Joseph Deshi already in Custody

On 18th February 2024, at around 09:20 a.m., the Durum outstation received a distress call from Abubakar Shehu, reporting the discovery of a deceased young man in a bush on the outskirts of Kuhu village, Bauchi LGA. In response, a patrol team from the C Division swiftly proceeded to the scene and evacuated the body to ATBU Teaching Hospital in Bauchi for medical examination. The victim was certified dead by a medical doctor.

Subsequently, on 19th February 2024, at approximately 07:00 a.m., another distress call was received from the same location, reporting the discovery of a second corpse in the same area. Once again, the patrol team, led by the DPO of the C Division, responded, and the body was taken to ATBU Teaching Hospital. No physical injuries or marks of violence were observed on either of the bodies. However, the second victim had punctured eyes.

Prior to the report of the second corpse, on 18th February 2024 at 06:30 p.m., three suspects identified as Hoomvez Martins Nyelong, Daniel Audu Adamu, and Maigari Inuwa were apprehended in the vicinity. They failed to provide a satisfactory account of their presence in the area. Two of the suspects are students at ATBU Bauchi, while one claimed to have graduated from the University of Jos. Further investigations indicate that the suspects may be members of a cult group responsible for the killings.

Upon investigation, various exhibits were recovered from the scene, including razor blades, empty bottles of water and alcohol, sachets of water, candles, sticks with bloodstains, and torn short trousers. WhatsApp chats found on Hoomvez Martins Nyelong’s mobile phone implicated him as the person who left the first corpse, identified as Reheboth Joseph Deshi, in the area.πŸ’”πŸ’”
