ADAMAWA DEVELOPMENT: A TIP OF THE ICE BERG FROM GOVERNOR FINTIRI- Tabiyatiya Kingtabs Daniel
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has proven to be a purposeful leader and by all standard, a good manager by providing developments in all spheres of life, his tremendous and visible projects spread across the State is the icing on the cake to making Adamawa Work again.
As a leader who knows the art of governance and a student of history, he has made significant progress in virtually all critical sectors which is substantial to the growth and development of the state.
Investing in infrastructure is believe to drive economic growth, provide jobs, and deliver vital services to the state and the majority of its citizens, it also translates to opportunities for sponsors or investors that are keen on developing infrastructure projects in the state. Opportunities exist across all core and social infrastructure sectors ranging from transport, urban development / real estate, to healthcare.
Let me do you the honour of highlighting some of the major achievements of the Fintiri’s led administration in just under 2 years.
INFRASTRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENT/ROAD CONSTRUCTION
The State Government under the leadership of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri is constructing a network of roads linking the area with the hinterland and has promised to provide basic social amenities like water, educational and health.
It is no longer news that the construction of the first ever flyover in the state and probably the first in the northeast situated at Total Filling Station Junction in Yola has reached an appreciable stage.
Also, the construction of the first ever grade interchange in the northeastern part of the country at the famous Police Roundabout is steadily progressing.
Construction of 4.4km Yola Township Roads in Yola South Local Government Area to which includes: Mafia Road with fall out drain –1.2km, Zumo Street and link – 0.75km, Mbamba Street – 1.0km, Doctors Quarters –1.0km and Nyibango – Yolde Pate road with 2 span bridges totalling 3.185km will definitely change the face of the Local Government Area.
Similarly, the construction of 2.1km Weekly Scope Road in the center of Yola, the Adamawa State Capital is in an appreciable stage, with the construction reaching surface dressing.
Road construction is going simultaneously around the state capital and environs, with the 3.185km Bachure road construction at the forefront, though it is believed to have been in construction longer than expected. Streets like Benue Street, Kaduna, Lusaka, Abeokuta, Ndaforo, Philip Maken & Links 2.5km, Lagos Street – 1.5km, Falu Road and Links – 2.31km, Mambila and Jambutu Street – 2.7km, Old Government House Road and Links – 1.35km and 2.2km Nepa Road.
Not only in the state capital, the Urban Renewal Mandate hits Numan Local Government Area with the construction of 3.5km Numan Township Roads spanning across Izala – Gweda Mallam and Rafa – Wayam roads, with storm water drainages and box culvert. The construction is expected to bring an end to perennial flooding in the area when completed.
As for the residence of Jada Local Government Area, it will take a lifetime for them to forget Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri who has taken his urban renewal program to the area with the construction of 3.8km Jada township roads, which includes 650 metres Palace road, 1.50km Cattle market road, 1.32km Prayer ground road, 800 metres.
Hong Local Government Area wasn’t left behind as the construction of 3.2km Hong Township European Quarters road is steadily progressing.
In continuation of the provision of infrastructure and basic social amenities which is vital to the well-being of people in rural areas, Adamawa State Governor Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri is also constructing 6.6km township road in Madagali local government area of the state.
The township roads under construction includse central primary school Gulak to cottage hospital Gulak, market road, motor park road, and Jalingo road to Government Day Secondary school Gulak among others.
Michika Local Government Area which was neglected as a result of combined effects of insurgency and ecological degradation now has its own share of major development in over decade following the approval of the construction of 5.1km Michika township roads.
The roads that are concurrently undergoing construction in Michika include 0.57km Mukaddas road, 0.95km Lassa road, 1.7km Matakam road, 1.1km Low cost road and 0.06km Hospital road extension.
The Fintiri’s led administration is doing everything possible to rebuild Boko Haram ravaged communities, with a move to reverse the total neglect the people suffered since the start of the insurgency.
We all know that Government is in continuum and it is in line with the saying that the Fintiri’s led administration has completed abandoned road projects he inherited from past administrations.
He completed the 5.3km road construction in Adamawa State University Mubi, 12.55km Mubi Township road phase II was was also completed, 7.0km Ganye Township roads (Buwangal-sangasumi road), Song Bridge and Approach Roads, Mustapha Ismail Street and Links in Jimeta, constructed additional road and links in Dougirei and part of Lekki Taba Street have also been completed.
HEALTH
Meanwhile, in the Health Sector, the present administration has also recorded huge success, from renovating and upgrading of primary and secondary healthcare facilities to building new health facilities.
The present administration successfully cleared the multimillion Naira equipment bought by former Governor Murtala Nyako from Germany and abandoned at the Lagos port.
Understanding the need to collaborate with development partners in bringing desired development to the good people of the state, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri paid the sum of (N1,000,000) One Million Naira as counterpart fund for the establishment of the State’s Health Insurance Scheme which has attracted a donor funding of over (N600,000,000) Six Hundred Million Naira as the scheme enters its implementation phase.
The present administration has completed the construction of Health Posts at Dakoru and Sabon Kasuwa Mayo Belwa, Madanya and Gyadkwara Mubi South, Toungo, Wuro-Gas Madagali, Damilu, behind Main Motor Park.
It also constructed Primary Health Care Centres in Anguwan Yalake, Ganye, Luggere, Yola North and Mayo Wandu, Madagali while it renovated Primary Health Care Centres in Mayo Hako, Jada, Jaggu, Ganye, Lamido Aliyu PHC, Yola South, main clinic PHC Watsila, Bazza Michika and PHC Gyella, Mubi South.
It constructed staff quarters at Cottage Hospital Maiha, additional wall, fence, renovated Cottage Hospital Borrong, Demsa, renovated staff quarters at PHC Monduva, constructed maternity clinic at Kukta, Song, maternity clinic at Kiri, Shelleng and re-roofing of Main Clinic PHC Jaggu, Ganye.
Meanwhile, the rehabilitation of Gulak Cottage Hospital and Michika General Hospital is currently ongoing, with the construction of a 60 Bed capacity Cottage Hospital in Lamurde, Shelleng, Gombi and Girei Local Government Areas.
Procurement of Standard Modern Incinerators for Yola Specialist Hospital and Jada General Hospital.
Constructed an Infectious Disease Control Centre, first in the North East and unending supplies of Personal Protective Equipments (PPEs) to Healthcare centres
At the early stage of the deadly coronavirus pandemic, Governor Fintiri donated his 3 months’ salary to help fight off the Novel Covid-19 pandemic in the State.
EDUCATION
Despite the fact that Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri met the education sector at a decline, he hurriedly revived it by introducing Free & Compulsory Education for public Primary and Secondary School Students across the state.
He made payments for 2020 WAEC, NABTEB, NBAIS and NECO for over 27,894 students across the State.
The Governor reintroduced School Feeding Programmes for both public Primary and Secondary Schools across the state.
Apart from approving Scholarship for 60 Students to study Engineering courses in India, he also paid Scholarship funds to Adamawa Students all over the Country.
The State Government in collaboration with UNICEF is currently constructing and renovating 80 schools in Fufore and Guyuk Local Government Areas of the state.
The present administration also paid matching grant to UBEC from 2016-2020 and accessed over 10 Billion to facilitate the construction and rehabilitation of 5000 classrooms across the State.
