 UPDATED: At last, ASUU declares Nationwide Strike 14 February 2022 The Academic Staff Union of Universities has declared a “comprehensive and total” strike. The strike was declared at a press conference addressed by the President of ASUU, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, on Monday. He said the strike, which takes effect from Monday, February 14, 2022, would last for an initial period of four weeks. According to him, the union tried to avoid the strike but the Federal Government is unresponsive to the union’s demands. “We don’t like to see our students at home. We don’t want our academic calendars disrupted but our demands are not met,” he added. The ASUU chairman also said ASUU NEC faulted the creation of new universities. Osodeke asked the Federal Government to call the Vice-Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Prof. Eyitope Ogunbodede, to order over the unpaid Earned Academic Allowances of its members in the university.

 ASUU ends Meeting with a vote. “The least consideration for now is a warning strike, Some of our branches representatives feel we should commence strike outrightly but others advised that apart from the lecture free-day declared we should embark on another warning strike before the full, indefinite strike”. Also, according to multiple reports 80% of members are insisting on embarking on full strike action on 14th February, 2022 to compel the Federal Government to meet their demands. Whereas, some members are suggesting on a warning strike for a certain period.

A 15 year old boy was caught trying to slit the throat of a 3 year old girl

 A teenager was reportedly caught while trying to slit the throat of a 3-year-old girl — the incident is reported to have happened in the city of Touba, Senegal, on Friday, February 4. According to reports, the teenager was spotted walking hastily with the girl towards an abandoned building at around 5pm when the manager of an auto garage noticed the teenager with the girl and became suspicious and so he began monitoring him as he took the girl into a deserted building located a few meters from the garage. A little while later, the manager of the garage alerted two of his apprentices to monitor the suspicious movement of the teenager. The apprentices then quietly followed the teenager to his hideout where they were shocked to find him holding a knife over the little girl.
